To think it all started with a hamster commercial in 2009. Today, the Kia Soul is one of the market’s most recognizable vehicles. For buyers tired of the same old silhouettes, the quirky car brought revolutionary style and dependable performance at an affordable price. That still holds true today with the 2017 Kia Soul.
This year, the Soul’s familiar exterior has been updated to give it an even cooler and more spacious design. Keep reading to learn why the 2017 Kia Soul, offered at both Rusty Wallace Kia showrooms, is the most popular crossover vehicle on the market.
New for 2017: Kia Soul(ful) Design
There’s no doubt that the Soul rocks a signature look. The boxy exterior has been recently updated while still keeping the model’s fun and funky shape. To make it even more appealing, this year’s upgrade includes new perks, like alloy wheels, chrome accents, LED turn signals, and optional chromed dual exhaust tips.
The car’s snub nose and iconic hatchback remain, but LED fog lights, tail lamps, and parking lights bump up the styling options, giving you the opportunity to drive a car that’s truly one-of-a-kind. You simply won’t find another compact car on the road that looks like a decked-out Kia Soul, especially now that similar class models from other manufacturers have been discontinued.
All three 2017 Kia Soul trim levels (the Base Soul, the Soul Plus, and the Soul Exclaim) look the same on the exterior for the most part.
Every Drive an Adventure
The 2017 Kia Soul delivers great drives, whether you’re going to work or hitting the road toward a weekend festival. The available base model has a 6-speed transmission (manual and automatic) and a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 130 hp @6,300 rpm. Look forward to a wallet-saving 27 mpg combined, so you make fewer stops to fuel up.
While it’s certainly no sports car, the Soul still delivers and superb performance on turns as well as quick acceleration. You’ll have no trouble on twisty mountain roads or accelerating in the merging lane. The Soul Plus has a 2-liter engine that makes 161 hp @ 62,000 rpm, and the Soul Exclaim has a 1.6-liter, turbocharged engine that makes 201 hp @ 6,000 rpm.
A Stylish and Thoughtful Interior
The light-ringed speakers of the Kia Soul are one of its most beloved features. So, naturally, the 2017 Kia Soul has them — along with a range of other standard and optional features.
USB connectivity along with Kia’s technology makes setup with your smartphone easy. For more in-drive convenience, you can upgrade to the Uvo package for your console. This adds the infotainment package, which allows you to keep track of where you park, receive notifications when your car needs service, and even schedule a service appointment all from your dashboard. Uvo also adds Android and Apple Carplay, which puts smartphone functions like Siri, Google Maps, and Spotify on your dashboard. You can also add a touchscreen with a backup camera to take some of the tension out of parking in crowded spaces.
The 2017 Kia Soul’s flat-faced hatchback provides 61.3 cubic feet of cargo space. A more expansive backseat gives the car a unique level of comfort compared to other compact crossovers, so you’ll have no problem hauling groceries or a carful of friends.
When you’re in need of an economical car that doesn’t sacrifice style, the 2017 Kia Soul has it all. With upgraded technology, comfort, and overall design, it’s truly in a class of its own.
